Cynthia Penn attended Indiana University with scholarship from 1998-2003. While there she studied with Klara Barlow, Virginia Zeani and Andreas Poulimenos. During her studies she developed a tremendous appreciation for opera and the study of operatic roles. She strives to prepare each role with the excellence it deserves. In 2006 Cynthia moved to Philadelphia on a whim and found her voice teacher, Tony Pugliese, and attributes her current vocal success to his teachings. Cynthia currently sings with the Little Lyric Opera Theater of Philadelphia and with Amici Opera. Upcoming roles include Santuzza from CavalleriaRusticana, Mona Lisa from Schillings’ MonaLisa, and Zaza from Leoncavallo’s Zaza. Cynthia is thankful for her many learning experiences and grateful for every opportunity to sing for any audience. Her dream roles revolve around verismo opera, and also coloratura masterpieces. She hopes to one day sing Liu, Manon Lescaut, Mimi, Desdemona and Ophelia, in addition to the exquisite roles she is already learning.
